Dr. Cathy Zhang is a dual board-certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for chronic pain. She is the founder and lead physician of Louisiana Pain Institute, where she partners with Joint Efforts to deliver innovative pain management strategies tailored to each patient’s needs. Her clinical approach is rooted in evidence-based medicine and a deep commitment to improving quality of life through interventional and non-opioid therapies.

Dr. Zhang completed a fellowship in chronic pain medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and residency training in anesthesiology and perioperative medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was also active in graduate medical education leadership. Her research interests have focused on novel perioperative analgesic strategies, and her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Brain Research. She has presented at national and institutional conferences on topics ranging from opioid safety to nerve stimulation therapies and quality improvement in patient care.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Zhang is an advocate for physician wellness and mentoring, having served as a wellness chair, house staff council representative, and research mentor. She is fluent in English and conversant in Mandarin, and she brings a culturally informed, compassionate perspective to her practice.
